Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to suspend asylum applications and cease granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the AP.
