Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to develop a TTRPG set within the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," reads an announcement.

Launch products will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the United States into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and violent factions rise, turning the city into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. This is where the players come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, specifically in the United States. Production will start right after the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it employs d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical approach. Agents leverage abilities to assemble small dice pools, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players select a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system is designed to favor teamwork and clever tactics instead of simple statistics.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way health is tracked adds a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative collapses, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
