News has broken that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

An Important Reunion for Fans

The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, as the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.

This represents the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.

The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in pivotal roles:

• Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
